Advisory Committee

The Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition Advisory Committee is comprised of retired board members and others who express interest in and demonstrate ability to support and advance the Coalition's mission. Individuals are appointed to the Advisory Committee by vote of the board. Advisory Committee members may advise, assist and support the Coalition board in carrying out the purposes and functions of the corporation. Advisors have no voting power and serve as volunteers, i.e., receive no monetary compensation. Criteria for Advisory Committee membership include:

  • High level of expertise in an area relevant to the Coalition's mission.

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to support and advance the Coalition's mission and add value to the Coalition's work.

  • Ability and willingness to advise the Coalition's leadership. Potential roles may include, but are not limited to: Guiding scientific endeavors, expanding community outreach, identifying new sources of support, providing new perspectives and program/project guidance, and assisting with advocacy efforts.

  • May be from various disciplines, including cancer control, epidemiology, disparities, clinical specialties, research, government, faith ministry, rural health, biotechnology, primary care, survivorship, advocacy, community leadership, public health, academia, and legal, and/or may be affiliated with relevant institutions/organizations, including universities, CDC, NCI, industry, ACS, DHR, DCH, GCC, healthcare systems, community-based organizations, and cancer survivor organizations.
