A native of Sumter County, Rev. Ernest Davis, Jr. is Senior Pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Albany and currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia Board of Directors.
Dedicating much of his time to civic and community involvement, Rev. Davis is chairman of the Dougherty County Juvenile Court Foster-Care Review Panel #3, a member of the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Clinical Pastoral Education Professional Advisory Committee, and the Southwest Georgia Care-Net Council, among other appointments. In 2004, he was awarded the Albany Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Community Service Award.
Rev. Davis is chairman of the South Georgia Conference Finance Committee, as well as vice-chairman of both the South Georgia Conference Board of Trustees and the Albany/Valdosta District. He has pastored churches in the Sixth District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the Augusta Georgia Conference, and the Southwest Georgia Conference.
A graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University and South Georgia Technical College, he earned post graduate degrees from Emory University Candler School of Theology and Georgia State University.
