The newly redesigned Web site of the Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition is now live! The new site, www.swgacancer.org, extends the reach of the Cancer Coalition by giving local communities information on its cancer prevention, research and educational programs focused solely on southwest Georgia.
The new web site features expanded content and media about the Coalition's work, including stories from people who participated in programs or research, video clips related to cancer education, and links to the latest screening, research and education data available. The redesign, with bold colors and graphics and new navigational tools, makes the site easy to understand and easy to use.
"Our online visitors will now experience a more exciting and seamless view of the Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition and our mission to serve the 33 counties of our area," said Diane Fletcher, Chief Executive Officer of the Coalition. "The redesign of our website has united all of our programs, partnerships and history in a format that is easily navigated and very informative."
In addition to information on programs such as the Center to Reduce Cancer Disparities, the Emory Prevention Research Center, and Cancer Care Grants, the site details the Coalition's education and outreach efforts for healthcare professionals and the public, as well as its numerous statewide initiatives. Visitors to the site will also find information about local cancer research, including the Tissue Bank sites in southwest Georgia and the latest information on local clinical trials.
The new www.swgacancer.org also allows the public to view and register for upcoming educational events, and an on-site search tool makes information more easily accessible. Visitors can also view the organization’s financial information and make donations to support the Cancer Coalition’s work.
"The new design was created for an audience of both professionals and the general public," added Fletcher. "Our mission is to ensure southwest Georgians have access to the highest quality cancer education, prevention, screening, treatment and research, and we support professional development and public awareness in each of those areas. We invite everyone to take a look at our web site to better understand who we are and what we do."
Redesign of the site was made possible by a $5,000 matching grant from Firespring Digital Community Initiative of Lincoln, Neb. Firespring provided administrative and operational support and also trained Coalition staff so they are able to regularly update the site.
