Roll the dice to help fight cancer in southwest Georgia
Bunko Tournament fundraiser promises fun night in Albany
The first “Play Bunko - Battle Cancer” event hosted by the Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition will be held Thursday, May 12, and those who love the popular dice game, or would like to learn how to play, are encouraged to join in the fun. The fundraiser will be held at Austin’s BBQ & Oyster Bar in Albany. Food and drinks start at 6 pm and games begin at 7 pm.
According to Cancer Coalition Development Coordinator Amanda Williams, you need not have played Bunko before to join in the fun. “There will be plenty of people on hand to teach you the game,” she said. “It’s a simple and fun game to play, and it’s going to be a great night of spending time with friends, making new ones, and helping to fight cancer in southwest Georgia.” One hundred percent of the proceeds stay in southwest Georgia to support the Coalition‘s cancer control programs,” Williams added.
In addition to Bunko, participants can bid on a limited selection of items during a Silent Auction, and purchase $1 raffle tickets for the chance to win an outfit from clothing boutique Envy, one of the event sponsors. Entertainment throughout the evening will be by Cole Taylor on acoustic guitar.
Major sponsor of the event is Dr. Jose Tongol and JT YoYo’s - Playing for a Cause. Other sponsors are MSA Chiropractic Sport and Spine, OB-GYN Associates at the Veranda, Kirbo and Kirbo, Envy, Austin’s BBQ & Oyster Bar, and Royal Collection.
Tickets are $40 and are available by calling 312-1700 or visiting the Coalition offices at 2332 Lake Park Drive, in Albany.
