Cancer is no stranger to most families in south Georgia. Individuals at risk for cancer, or those suffering from cancer, have many needs that no single organization in our region can meet. The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia provides a way for organizations to work together to better help people in the 32 counties that encompass our region.
Our Coalition's efforts build upon the excellence of existing healthcare services in our region. We bring additional funding, expertise and opportunities so that southwest Georgians can receive the highest quality cancer services and also participate in cancer research close to home.
Our Cancer Coalition is unable to provide cancer treatment, other direct patient services, or individual financial aid. However, we are happy to refer individuals to our partner organizations that do provide patient and family care services.
Our activities fill gaps by providing cancer resources that currently may not be available in our region. We partner with hospitals, public health departments, universities and community groups to give residents and healthcare professionals increased access to cancer prevention, screening, education, research and treatment.
Since its beginning in 2003, the Coalition has achieved remarkable results largely because of the drive and determination that our communities have for fighting cancer.
