What We Do

Education and Outreach

Supporting professional excellence, reaching more people

Constant advances in the field of cancer generate overwhelming amounts of information. A vital part of our work is to help professionals and the community gain timely and convenient access to this information through both our Professional Development programs and our Public Education programs.

A key role of the Cancer Coalition is to provide local physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals with the most current cancer-related information. To determine what type of education or training is most needed, as well as the best way to present the information, we first survey these professionals to identify learning needs, and then bring in expert speakers and other learning opportunities to meet the identified needs.

To provide the most complete and effective public education, we routinely partner with community groups and healthcare organizations to inform people across south Georgia about cancer research, prevention, screening and treatment.
