What We Do

Quality of Life Programs

The Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition strives to have an impact across the entire continuum of cancer - from prevention to long-term survivorship. We work with our clinical partners to support programs that reduce suffering and improve quality of life for people with cancer. Notably, we are not limited to any particular cancer type, stage or treatment.

One way we improve quality of life is through our Cancer Care Grants. For example, South Georgia Medical Center's Pearlman Cancer Center" started a cancer survivorship program with one of these grants. The program has continued to develop, has been presented at national conferences, and is generating interest at other hospitals. Through our Cancer Coalition's regional network, we anticipate being able to give other providers a template with which to build their own survivorship programs.

To improve quality of life at the end of life, we are currently in discussion with a regional hospice provider. We are considering ways that our Coalition may support and promote hospice services to both inpatients and at-home patients.

Our Cancer Coalition is unable to provide cancer treatment, other direct patient care services or individual financial aid. Instead, we refer individuals to our partner organizations that do provide patient and family care services.
